BMW Hottest 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible overview

Owning a BMW car is really a previledge and having a collection of Infiniti G series is a serious way to show off that you're a fierce car enthusiast. Germany's top brand BMW has been around for years and their upcoming model the G37 coupe is a blast!

Infiniti's G Series is a proven competitor to the BMW 3 Series, with the G37 coupe demonstrated to be an especially worthy alternative to Germany's best cars. For 2009, Infiniti has extended the G Series to include a revised M35 sedan as well as the G37 convertible, the latter which is the subject of this article.

For the record, the G37 convertible's official debut won't take place until this November at the prestigious Los Angeles Auto Show. That hasn't stopped parent Nissan Motors from sharing tidbits about its newest model in a bid to drum up interest and to measure demand.

What We Know About The G37 Convertible

Like the coupe, the convertible will benefit from several new Infiniti features, updates which will certainly appeal to avid enthusiasts:

  • A VQ37VHR "VVEL" 3.7-liter V6 rated at 328 horsepower.
  • A 7-speed automatic transmission. Optionally, drivers can select a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission.
  • G37x AWD model with advanced ATESSA E-TS(TM) all-wheel drive system.
  • New sport 18-inch wheel design.
  • Scratch Shield paint (self-healing clearcoat finish) is now standard.

Though the convertible won't go on sale until well into the 2009 model year, the standard coupe will be available for sale in September 2008.

A Uniquely Designed Roof

Perhaps the most significant feature of the G37 convertible will be its roof. It will feature a fully automatic 3-piece folding top, a design which provides a coupe-like silhouette and all-weather protection when up, or open-air motoring when in the down position. The one picture of the convertible circulated by Infiniti thus far shows the car with its roof down. However, Nissan says that the convertible will complement the coupe's lines so what will be on display at the auto show this November will likely do justice to the G37 theme.

What This Means For You

With the coupe retailing just north of $36,000, you can expect the convertible to sell for around $40,000 while offering the same class competing amenities found in the coupe. Though the numbers haven't been officially published yet, the new engine and transmission pairing will probably push the G37 right into 335i territory; perhaps a 0-60 time in under five seconds will now be possible.

Hybrid Cars - are they going to be important in the future

Are Hybrids Really The Wave Of The Future?

With soaring gas prices from around the world, is it time to shift gear and move on to alternative fuel sources? Is it time to try Hybrid cars and make new ways to improve our automobile industry to not rely on gas fuel and shift into electric, hydro and bio gases? Read on

The future, a wonderful, mysterious, awe-inspiring time has promises for us. Many dream of ending cancer and other diseases. Others dream of bicycles that fly. And could we someday be able to transport ourselves from one place to another? Perhaps. But some of us have dreams that aren't that big. All we want is a car that runs on something other than fuel.

Maybe one nice sunny day, we could all drive up to the pump and put some interesting chemical in our car that would make it run forever. Maybe we could gas up on some cooking oil or even oxygen. But for now, we have hybrids. Maybe they are the answer to our dilemma. Are these cars the wave of the future?

It seems like they are for many reasons. These cars are electric. "Electric" is a word that is linked with innovation and imagination. Electric signals "power." That means the power to run and the power to run for miles and miles. That's what a hybrid car is all about. When you get in one, you'll know you'll get to where you need to go and you won't have to stop at ten gas stations on the way.

Remember when Edison came out with the electric light bulb? Everyone thought it was a great invention, and it has changed the lives of all of us. So a hybrid car is also changing all of our lives. It's new, and very technologically advanced. Hybrid cars should get the same kind of recognition Edison did. However, hybrid cars do take some fuel to run them, but that doesn't mean we should applaud them for being able to run on both electricity and fuel.

With all of the above reasons, hybrid cars seem to be the wave of the future, but there are a couple of reasons why that may not be true. For instance, there must be some reason why hybrids are not selling more than conventional cars. That's because the average customer who looks at the sticker price on a hybrid car is stunned. It's just too much money for the average car buyer. And how can a car be the wave of the future if it scares people away every time they come to look at it on the dealers' lot?

Since the cost possibly overrides the benefits of the hybrid car, a hybrid car may just be a transitional car, and the actual wave of the future might be a car that is fueled by something other than "fuel." Whatever that "fuel" is, I'm sure we will all like it and then we'll be calling that fuel the wave of the future.

Some people today are already fueling their cars with cooking oil, but that doesn't seem to have caught on world wide like hybrid cars have. Therefore, cooking oil does not seem to be the solution for us. But, maybe some day, people will start fiddling with their hybrid cars and come up with something much better than the design that is before them.
